One Voice for Blacon (OVfB) is a public forum, meeting every month in Blacon, where residents and people who work in the area can be involved with making Blacon a better and safer place.
OVfB was officially launched on September 28th 1999, as a result of residents and community leaders sharing a vision that recognised the need to unify "the voice" of Blacon into a forum that would shape and influence the delivery of local services, at the same time promoting positive images of the Blacon community. The introduction of Neighbourhood Management in Blacon has supported the development of OVfB and its ability to influence service providers by allowing residents to harness the knowledge and experience of local people with professional advice and support in focusing resources on residents' priorities.
The foundation of OVfB is in being an open organisation that seeks to ensure consensus as the preferred approach to progress. In developing the trust of the community there is a need to make the structure of "One Voice" and its links with Neighbourhood Management open, transparent and its representatives accountable.
